In this week’s Gospel, we hear about Jesus’ 40 days in the desert without food or water. Because Jesus was fully human, like us he had real needs, he endured temptation, and he suffered. And even though it wasn’t always easy, he endured hardship for the purpose of giving life to others.
So how did he endure his temptation and suffering? We learn that he looked to the scriptures, prayed and understood that even in the midst of his particular temptations and suffering, He was not alone.
We are not alone either. God is always with us to help us overcome our own temptations and struggles. But like Jesus, we need to look to the scriptures, pray and trust that God will be with us to see us through.
