This week’s Scripture tells us that after Jesus left the desert, He entered Galilee and started proclaiming the Gospel.
Jesus begins his public ministry by telling the people to “repent”. That’s a pretty powerful word. But He didn’t mean it in the sense of fire and brimstone or to portray God as a tyrant.
Rather, Jesus told the people to repent – to change their ways – not only in their deeds, but also in their way of thinking about God. Jesus proclaims God as our loving Father who is present among us, and who wants us to turn away from anything that distracts us from our relationship with Him.
So don’t let the word “repent” scare you. Think about how you might change your ways – both in thought and action – to be more faithful to God’s will and reflect His love and presence to others.
