We see acts of selfishness every day. The guy who takes up two parking spaces. The child who won't share. The self-absorbed celebrity.
Today, we want to focus on acts of selflessness. Those who put others before themselves.
In this week's first reading, Isaiah Chapter 50 speaks of offering encouragement to someone who is down or weary. The writer describes how he "opens his ears" that he may hear God's call for him and with God's help, may understand how to help others.
The Season of Lent should be a time when we practice more acts of selflessness. We can start by opening our ears to God by spending time each day with God, and then opening our hearts to one another. And remember, God is always there to lead us.
