This week's readings set the stage for the ultimate act of selflessness – Jesus Christ dying on the cross to free us from sin and death.
Christians believe that we not only benefit from Christ's selflessness, but that we are also called to follow His example.
St. Paul encourages us to live selfless lives with Jesus as a model. He tells us Christ emptied Himself...He humbled Himself... devoted Himself...and sacrificed Himself to meet our needs, save us from our sins, and afford us eternal life.
We all have the potential to demonstrate such powerful love – and we don’t have to give up our lives to do that. Commit to one act of selflessness today. When you do you are following Jesus.
