Some people may think of God's commandments as a burden, a list of rules meant to keep us in line.
But in this week's scripture reading, John tells us just the opposite. John said these commandments are not burdensome, rather, when we keep them and love God's children, we will find truth.
Jesus said "a new command I give you – love one another as I have loved you." Challenging? Perhaps. Burdensome? Not at all when you consider that this is the path that will lead us to true happiness and eternal life with God.
It would seem that loving one another, loving God, and keeping God's commandments is a small price to pay for true and lasting happiness.
