We are each unique – with our own talents, our own experiences, our own opinions. But we are also part of something larger, something greater than each of us. We are part of God’s family.
In chapter 15 of the Gospel of John, Jesus tells us "I am the vine, you are the branches." He means each of us – the branches – are meant to bear fruit in our own unique way to further the Kingdom of God – the vine.
But we can't do it alone. We need to cooperate, each of us using our God-given talents to work together on His behalf. Just like the branches are interwoven and dependent on the vine, so are we interconnected and in need of God’s support.
God will nourish and guide us. And we can look to Jesus as our example. As Jesus reminds us, "A branch cannot bear fruit on its own unless it remains on the vine. So neither can you."
