You often hear the words "fate" and "destiny" used interchangeably. After hearing this week's readings, it's important to note the difference for our faith.
Fate generally defines events as inevitable or unavoidable. It implies no choice.
Destiny, on the other hand, relates to a predetermined future. Christians believe our destiny is as children of God and that we have His promise of eternal life in heaven. And we do have a choice.
We can choose to participate and demonstrate our belief in the plans God has predetermined for us. That means following the example of Christ here on earth. Worshipping together. Helping others. Praying often.
We have a shared life with God and it is our privilege to take part in fulfilling our faith destiny.
