This week's Gospel message is as relevant today as it was when Jesus questioned the motives of the Pharisees who had criticized the actions of His disciples.
The Pharisees were caught up in following rituals to the tiniest detail and they passed judgment on the disciples for not following their ways. Jesus rebukes them as hypocrites saying, "you disregard God's commandments, but you cling to human traditions."
Jesus stresses that it is what is within our hearts – our motives – that define whether our acts are in keeping with God's plan for us.
Sure, we can talk the talk. But are we walking the walk?
Take some time to revisit your motives and let what is within your heart guide you in how you express your faith.
