In the world of music, harmony is created when different pitches or notes are simultaneously combined to clearly define a sound that is pleasing to the ear.
If you've ever strummed a chord on a guitar, then you’ve played a harmonic set of different notes with each string contributing to the distinct sound.
We learn from this week's Scripture readings that God intends for us to unite in harmony and to live a life that honors Him and one another. Like the strings on the guitar, we are all different but equal in living out the unity God has planned for us.
Discord results when we put our own interests above others. When we mistreat someone by what we do or don't do, we create a hardness of heart that simply cannot resonate with God's love.
Remember how much greater the sound can be when we unite together in harmony.
