Shout for joy! Sing joyfully! Rejoice! Be filled with expectation. The readings this week are filled with joy. And they tell us that we should be, too. Because the Lord is near.
For Christians, this is a season of joy. But the scriptures are describing an unimaginable joy that even surpasses our understanding. They tell us that God sings joyfully because of us, His children. And He wants every one of us to share in that joy. In the life and example of Jesus Christ, He shows us how.
We share in God's joy when we give to others...when we feed the hungry...visit the lonely...comfort the sick...and tend to those in need.
God's joy, peace and love are not limited to one season. They are timeless and eternal gifts to be shared every day of our lives.
Let us follow the example of Jesus and bring joy to the world.
