In this week's Gospel, Jesus illustrates a new way of relating to one another. Simply put, He shows mercy.
A woman accused of adultery is about to be stoned to death, according to the law of the time. But Jesus offers a different approach, saying, "Let the one among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her." One by one the crowd leaves.
Take a moment to reflect on the message of this Gospel. Shouldn't we treat others the way we wish to be treated? With mercy. Compassion. Forgiveness. Love.
The next time you’re tempted to judge someone, remember the words of Jesus and take a moment to examine yourself first. Maybe you’ll be reminded of the old saying “I’m not going to cast that stone.”
