Mahatma Gandhi was a peaceful leader who worked toward Indian independence. He spent much of his life opposing discriminatory legislation against the people of India. His method was resistance through non-violent civil disobedience. Although he was jailed numerous times, he held fast to his commitment to providing justice for the people of India.
The scriptures are filled with examples of good people who overcame oppression to fulfill God’s will. Everyday people like Gandhi and us. Again, often the cost for him was great, but the value was even greater. We can look to these examples in our own lives. Are we willing to stand up for our beliefs and for what is right? What can we do to advance justice?
