We learn from the scriptures that God shows no partiality. He sent His son, Jesus Christ, to bring justice to all people throughout the world.
Christians believe that we share the same call. Sadly, oppression is stronger than ever, worldwide and in our own back yard.
So what can be done? Here's one idea.
The Immigration & Refugee Assistance Program of Catholic Charities of Buffalo is part of a national network that resettles refugees from around the world who seek safe haven from strife and atrocities in their countries. In any given year, the program serves close to 1,000 children and adults right here in Western New York. Refugees represent countless ethnicities from Burmese and Hmong to Rwandan and Russian. It is a local program with global impact. According to program director, Anne Brittain, the volunteers and staff "live the Beatitudes every day, offering compassion to our fellow man in the spirit of justice."
