This week from the book of Exodus, we hear of "a merciful and gracious God, slow to anger and rich in kindness and fidelity." And in St. Paul’s letter to the Corinthians, we are told to "encourage one another, agree with one another, live in peace, and the God of love and peace will be with you."
Such beautiful and reassuring words give us some insight into the mystery of the Most Holy Trinity and who we are supposed to be before God as created in His image. From the nature that is the merciful and gracious God, we derive what and who we are to be. Our unity, our compassion comes from our origin that is the Blessed Trinity.
For Christians the Holy Trinity is the origin and pattern of how God wants us to live in relationship with each other – valuing, embracing our differences, and remembering we are created by the merciful and gracious triune God. Acting in God’s image, we do this through mercy, graciousness and kindness.
