This past Sunday, Christians marked the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. This feast celebrates the belief in the real presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist, the source and summit of the Christian faith.
In the joy of the Eucharistic celebration, Christians believe we are united with Christ and transformed through Him. No change we as humans can imagine equals the change available through Jesus in the Eucharist. "I am the living bread that comes down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever," Jesus declares.
Through the Eucharistic we are offered spiritual nourishment and an intimacy with Christ that is beyond our comprehension. We are changed and prepared to share in Christ's love and his life of self-giving. We are sent to be His body and blood – a Eucharistic church in our world.
