In this week’s scripture readings we hear Samuel respond eagerly, "Here I am!" each time the Lord calls him.
God is calling Samuel to a life of service and the young man answers with great willingness knowing this is how he will find lasting peace and happiness in his life.
Throughout the history of the Church, many saints answered God’s call with that same willingness to do His will, finding purpose in serving the poor, feeding the hungry, caring for the sick.
We too should be listening for the call of God in our lives and be ready to respond like the Psalmist, "Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will."
Answering God’s call leads us to a deeper relationship with Him and with others. And that will lead to our peace.
