In this week’s Gospel, Mark describes how Jesus called two fishermen, Simon and Andrew, as his first disciples. Jesus invited them to follow Him and become "fishers of men."
The disciples dropped their nets and left everything behind to follow Jesus. Their jobs. Their families. Talk about commitment! Imagine the courage and incredible faith the disciples must have had to dedicate their lives to Jesus.
Like the disciples, the commitments we make take courage and faith. We can trust God to guide us as we follow the example of Jesus in living His Gospel message. Sometimes we are called out of our comfort zone like Simon and Andrew. But remember, God is always with us.
In proclaiming the Good News Jesus said "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."
