"Healthy Sexuality in a World of Internet Pornography and Casual Sex"

Presented by Rev. Gregory M. Faulhaber, Vice Rector and Director of Seminarian Formation, Christ the King Seminary

The gift of human sexuality was given by God in the beginning, and it seems that we have struggled with its proper use ever since.  Sexual questions and issues confront us daily, and new developments in society and technology provide Christians with ever growing challenges to our traditional teachings on marriage and sexuality.  How do we develop healthy attitudes toward sexuality and marriage in a world of casual sex, internet pornography, legalized same sex marriages, and the proliferation of sexual enhancement drugs?  This workshop will examine the teachings of the R.C. Church on marriage and human sexuality and discuss their proper pastoral application in our challenging world today.  Some of the topics to be covered are: modern sexual trends, cybersex, pornography, sexual identity, ministry to people in broken relationships, sexual abuse, boundaries, and other issues that may be of concern to those in attendance.

Ordained as a priest for the Diocese of Buffalo in 1979, Fr. Greg has a wide range of experience in counseling and teaching in the area of human sexuality and marriage that goes back more than 35 years.  He received his doctorate in Moral Theology from the Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium in 1994 and has been teaching the graduate course in human sexuality and marriage and other areas of moral theology at CKS since then.  During this time he has continued to be active in pastoral ministry throughout the diocese, working with youth, the engaged, and married couples in programs such as the Christian Leadership Institute, Engaged Encounter and Teams of Our Lady.
