Commencement honors Bishop Malone, graduates

Christ the King Seminary marked its 156th academic year with commencement exercises at St. John Vianney Chapel on May 9, 2014. 

Bishop Richard J. Malone delivered the commencement address and was conferred with a Doctor of Humane letters, which was presented by seminary president/rector, Father Peter Drilling (left), while Dr. Dennis Castillo (center), academic dean, looks on.  During his address, Bishop Malone said, "Tonight we graduate men and women formed and educated at Christ the King Seminary for service in a variety of ministries as pastoral leaders in the Church.”

During his closing remarks, Bishop Malone announced that Father Drilling, who is leaving his post at the end of May, will be assigned to St. Joseph Cathedral in Buffalo as the new rector, effective the First Sunday of Advent.  Father Joseph Gatto takes the helm as leader of the seminary on June 1.
