On Friday, October 19, Bishop Richard J. Malone, bishop of Buffalo, ordained Rev. Mr. John E. Stanton Jr. a transitional deacon. The ordination took place at the St. John Vianney Chapel at Christ the King Seminary, East Aurora.
A certified public accountant and lawyer, Rev. Mr. Stanton entered the seminary after working in several law firms including Brown & Kelly, LLP; Saperston & Day, P.C.; Pack, Hartman, Ball, Brody & Kinney, P.C., and Lipsitz, Green Fahringer, Roll, Salisbury & Cambria, LLP. He is a graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo’s School of Management and School of Law. In 2007, he entered Christ the King Seminary.
As part of his seminary training and studies, the West Seneca native was assigned to several parishes throughout the diocese including Holy Family, Albion; St. Jude the Apostle, North Tonawanda; Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Harris Hill; and St. Bernadette, Orchard Park. He also worked with Peaceprints Prison Ministries counseling inmates at Attica Correctional Facility and at the Response to Love Center where he was involved with outreach to inner-city residents.
Rev. Mr. Stanton will continue his studies at Christ the King Seminary and is expected to be ordained to the priesthood in 2013.
