Program for Lay Formation

As the Church is continually renewed and re-energized, both clergy and laity have mutually supportive and indispensable roles in proclaiming the Gospel and living as a Eucharistic community.

Christ the King Seminary's mission includes the formation of lay ecclesial ministers whose roles range from pastoral associates and pastoral administrators, to youth ministers, directors of religious education and instructors in faith formation, hospital chaplains and prison chaplains. Those preparing for professional Church ministry or ordained ministry in non-Catholic Christian traditions are encouraged to enroll in one of three graduate degree programs offered by the Seminary.  These degrees include:

  • Master of Arts in Theology
  • Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministry
  • Master of Divinity

In addition to our graduate degrees, the Seminary offers a broad continuing education program. Individuals pursuing this avenue find not just personal enrichment but an improved ability to put their faith into action through service. The continuing education program often opens doors to new ministries and advanced education.

Lay students at Christ the King Seminary come from every walk of life, from college students to retirees and from people seeking a second career, to others who simply feel the need for personal development in their Christian faith. No matter what their background, every student expresses a sense of devotion to ministering to others.

As in the priestly and diaconal formation program, Christian lay formation at the Seminary is focused on four main areas to education the whole person - human, spiritual, intellectual and pastoral.
