Seminary to Hold Commencement Ceremonies

Bishop LaValley to Deliver Commencement Address

The Most Reverend Terrance R. LaValley, Bishop of the Diocese of Ogdensburg and alumnus of Christ the King Seminary, will deliver the commencement address at the seminary on Friday, May 11. Twenty-three graduates will receive master's degrees and eight will receive certificates at the event, including three individuals who will receive certificates in the Hispanic Pastoral Ministry Program offered in conjunction with the Diocese of Buffalo. Several of the graduates will also be ordained to the priesthood or permanent diaconate in the near future.  In addition, Bishop LaValley will receive the Degree of Doctor of Humane Letters, honoris causa.

The event is the culmination of years of study for the graduates in areas such as scripture, theology, church history, pastoral ministry, and canon law.  Students of the graduate program complete as many as 112 credit hours of academic study, up to 12 credit hours of pastoral field education, and extensive personal and spiritual formation to prepare for ministry.  The ceremony will be held in the St. John Vianney Chapel at the seminary, beginning at 7 p.m.
